(Interpreter: Rui Ding) The Institute of Big Data Held Special Lectures to Explore the Cutting-edge Technology of Machine Learning Algorithm Net news (Article/Photo Institute of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Yiran Chen)With the invitation of big data institute, on the noon of October 24th, Dr. Yong Liu, scientist of Nanyang Technological University and Alibaba-Nanyang Technological University Joint Institute, visited our university and held a special lecture named "machine learning algorithm of recommendation system" in the 302 lecture hall of no. 6 teaching building. This lecture was hosted by Yiran Chen, a professional teacher of big data institute, and attended by Xin Chen, vice President of the institute and leaders of relevant departments. More than 300 teachers and students from various institutes attended the lecture. In the lecture, Dr. Liu first explained the application background and professional concept of the recommendation system of machine learning algorithm, from the historical origin of the recommendation system to the latest achievements at the present stage. Then, Dr. Liu made a deep analysis of the problems such as machine learning algorithms for data in the iterative calculation, model creation, and information. He took E-commerce platform as an example, elaborating how to apply machine learning algorithms to collect user data, then through the outline of the user's portrait and construction of user behavior pattern to predict the purpose of user preferences and precise information. Finally, Dr. Liu introduced the evaluation index system of machine learning algorithm recommendation system, and pointed out the future development direction of machine learning algorithm. Yong Liu graduated from the department of electronic science and technology of the University of Science and Technology of China and worked as a research scientist at the information and communications research institute of Singapore from November 2015 to October 2017. He graduated from the school of computer science and engineering of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2016 and obtained his PhD. From November 2017 to July 2018, he worked as a data scientist for NTUC in Singapore. His research fields include machine learning and data mining. At present, many research papers have been published in many important international conferences and journals, and served as manuscript reviewers in many authoritative journals such as KDD, ICAI, AAI, CIKM, ICDM, EEE/ACM.
