2019 Chongqing Institute of Engineering Teaching Ability Competition of Ideological and Political Theory Course was Successfully Held

The competition was hosted by Haiyan Hu, head of the ideological and political department, and eight full-time ideological and political teachers took part in, including Yujuan Liu, Meiqi Duan, Qilin Yue, Weiyan Jin, Shijiao Wu, Xuemei Wang, Ling An and Yuan Meng. The whole competition was divided into two parts: teaching design and on-site teaching. In the process of the competition, contestants had a complete idea, clear language, and vivid course content. Yujuan Liu adopted a close approach to students, choosing people and things familiar to students to introduce the teaching content of “the role of people in the historical development”. Centering on “social existence and social consciousness”, Qilin Yue illustrated the relationship between social existence and social consciousness with Monet’s real garden scenes and paintings, which aroused students’ interest in learning. Focusing on “core socialist values”, Meiqi Duan explained the requirements of core values from the national level, the social level and the individual level respectively. The whole competition was wonderful. The professional performance of each contestant on the stage won the applause from the audience, which fully demonstrated the solid theoretical foundation and profound ability and accomplishment of the ideological and political teachers of CQIE.

Yujuan Liu won the first prize, Meiqi Duan and Qilin Yue won the second prize, Weiyan Jin, Shijiao Wu and Xuemei Wang won the third prize, and Ling An and Yuan Meng won the excellence award. Professor Zhixiang Yu and Professor Xiaoling Peng made comments after the competition respectively, and Professor Yu spoke highly of this competition. He proposed that teachers of ideological and political courses should stand highly, carry out teaching work with their positions, emotions and temperature, have strong humanistic feelings and realistic care, and achieve the unity of emotion, rationality and action. Professor Peng fully affirmed the field performance of all participating teachers, she also combined her own teaching experience in the competition and put forward three suggestions: first, teachers should have a higher ability to prepare lessons, not only to prepare textbooks, but also to prepare for the students, on the basis of a full understanding of students to theory; Second, the topic should be targeted & theoretical. On the basis of reading the textbook thoroughly, we should choose the hot topics and the difficult problems of teaching to talk about. The third is to pay attention to the art of lecturing, to have a sense of rhythm, emotional ups and downs, letting teachers and students have a good interaction.
