Our School's Students Have Achieved Good Results In the Finals of the National College English Contest

Net news (article/pictures School of General Studies Jiali Yang) On May 16th, the 2021 National English Contest for College Students was held at Chongqing University. 8 contestants from our school emerged from the 1271 preliminary contest and entered the finals. Recently, the organizing committee announced the list of winners. Our school's 2018 students Hanyang Jing, Yifei Zhou, Bo Zhang, 2019 students Na Yu, Chunrong Chen, and Liu Liu, and 2020 student Xiaoxiao Zheng won the first prize of Category C; In 2019, Xinrui Zhang won the first prize of Category D. In addition, the Foreign Language Teaching Department of our college won the “Excellent Organization Award” from the organizing committee. The competition was led by teachers Yin Baolian and Wang Xiaoxiao from the Foreign Language Teaching Department of General Studies College, and the contestants were given multiple rounds of pre-match guidance and selection, which provided a strong guarantee for the stable performance of the finals.

The National College English Contest is co-sponsored by the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language and the Association of Teachers of English and Foreign Languages in China (TEFL China) and the Research Association of College Foreign Language Teaching. The National College English Contest is designed to cooperate with the Ministry of Education's higher education teaching level assessment work, and implement the Ministry of Education's spirit of various English teaching reforms in colleges and universities. At the same time, it will promote the overall improvement of college students' English proficiency, stimulate the interest of college students in learning English, and encourage college students with excellent English learning performance. According to the person in charge of the school competition, the Foreign Language Teaching Department of Liberal Studies College has always attached great importance to student competitions and selected outstanding teachers to guide students to participate in the finals. The number of students registering for the competition has also increased year by year, and the performance of the competition has steadily improved. This competition not only stimulated the interest of our school's students in learning English, but also promoted the improvement of our school's foreign language teaching reform.
