Our School Won Multiple Awards in the 9th "Teddy Cup" Data Mining Challenge

The students of Lu Wang, Jiuli Wan, and Yuanli Tang of the School of Big Data of our school won the first prize. The three groups of 2018 students Chunhua Xu, Jianhua Fu, and Xiaohu Lv won the second prize respectively, and the school won the "Best Excellent Organization Award" from the organizing committee.

The competition lasted for two months from March 6 to May 7 this year. A total of 3,627 teams from more than 340 colleges and universities across the country signed up for the competition. According to the introduction of the organizing committee, the topics of the "Teddy Cup" challenge come from enterprises, management institutions and scientific research institutes, which are more flexible. Participants submit a report as required, focusing on their creativity, and also require participants to have preliminary knowledge of statistics and data mining, and master the use of relevant software. Blind review is used for the awards of the challenge. The main criteria are the completeness of data preprocessing, the degree of understanding of the actual field background, the creativity of mining model construction, the correctness of the results, the objectivity of model evaluation, the reliability of model application and the clarity of textual expressions.

It is understood that this is a competition under the guidance of the China Association for the Promotion of Industry-University-Research Cooperation, hosted by the China University Big Data Education Innovation Alliance and the "Teddy Cup" Challenge Organizing Committee, and jointly organized by Guangzhou Teddy Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and People's Posts and Telecommunications Publishing House. It aims to promote the practical teaching of data mining in my country's universities, cultivate students' data mining application and innovation capabilities, and increase school-enterprise exchanges and cooperation and information sharing. Our students have achieved good results in the previous Teddy Cup. The school selects students to participate in the competition to promote learning, encourage students to learn data mining enthusiasm, and improve students' comprehensive ability to analyze and solve practical problems. At the same time, its purpose is to use games to promote teaching and promote the promotion and application of data mining technology in colleges and universities; it can also use games to promote research and provide a cooperation platform for the transformation of school-related intellectual resources into productivity to promote the national big data strategy.
