Recently, the Ministry of Education issued a notice on the announcement of the filing and approval results of undergraduate majors in ordinary higher education institutions for the year 2023 (Jiao Gao Han [2024] No. 6), which announced the filing and approval results of undergraduate majors in ordinary higher education institutions for the year 2023. The majors registered, approved, and adjusted this time will be included in the 2024 undergraduate enrollment plan of relevant universities. Our undergraduate majors in Film Production, Blockchain Engineering, Intelligent Construction, and Supply Chain Management have been successfully approved.

The Ministry of Education is deepening the adjustment, optimization, and reform of professional settings, guiding and supporting universities to open new majors that are urgently needed for national strategy and regional development. In recent years, Chongqing University of Engineering has closely followed the development needs of regional industries, adapted to the needs of the industrial talent market, actively seized new opportunities for the development of the digital economy, innovated models, optimized structures, connected with the development of industrial clusters, and continuously explored the integration and development of industrial chains, innovation chains, and talent chains. Our school attaches great importance to professional construction work. The development planning department of the school organizes top-level design discussions, the academic affairs department takes the lead, and relevant secondary teaching units closely cooperate to plan, prepare, and demonstrate early, ensuring the smooth approval of the new major.

Our school will take this successful application for a new major as an opportunity to further integrate teaching resources, concentrate advantageous forces, strengthen professional connotation, strengthen professional cluster construction, adjust and optimize professional structure, actively layout emerging majors related to strategic emerging industry development and people's livelihood urgent needs, and accelerate the cultivation of urgently needed professional talents to serve national and regional economic and social development. The follow-up school will fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, accelerate the adjustment and optimization of professional structure, promote high-quality development of education, and comprehensively build a first-class engineering and technical university with distinctive characteristics in accordance with the "Adjustment and Optimization Reform Plan for Discipline and Major Setting in General Higher Education" issued by the Ministry of Education and five other departments.
