The school held the finals of the 9th Counselor Quality and Ability Competition

Net news (article/Student Affairs Office Peng Li,picture/University Student Reporter Team)In order to implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, further enhance the quality, ability, and professional level of counselors, and better cultivate high-quality applied talents with good professional foundation, high comprehensive quality, and strong learning and application ability. On November 1st, the school held the final of the 9th Chongqing Institute of Technology Counselor Quality and Ability Competition in the 7807 Lecture Hall. Specially invited Jia Lu, Director of the Student Affairs Office of Chongqing Construction Engineering Vocational College, Peng Lu, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office of Chongqing University of Technology, Zihan Tang, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of the Marxism College of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Jiandong Wang, Vice President of Chongqing University of Engineering, and Yan Huang, Director of the Student Affairs Office, to serve as judges for this competition. Party branch secretaries, student department heads, and all counselors of each secondary college were invited to observe on site.

This final is divided into four parts: basic knowledge test, case study, heart to heart talk, and theme class presentation. Counselors from all colleges in the school actively participated, demonstrating solid professional qualities and a good spirit.In the basic knowledge testing stage, counselors relied on their rich theoretical knowledge and work experience to answer questions seriously, demonstrating their proficiency in student work related policies, regulations, and theoretical knowledge.

In the case study session, participating counselors conducted in-depth analysis on cases related to student ideological education, mental health, academic guidance, and emergency response, and proposed practical and feasible solutions, fully demonstrating their ability to analyze and solve problems.

During the heart to heart talk session, counselors conducted on-site simulated conversations with student actors, patiently listening and carefully guiding students' problems in learning, life, emotions, and other aspects, providing them with care and help. With sincere attitudes and effective methods, they won rounds of applause from the audience on site.

During the theme class meeting, the counselor gave lectures around the theme of "Respecting Teachers", using a combination of case studies, group discussions, scenario simulations, and other methods to encourage students to show respect to teachers through practical actions. This allowed the virtues of respecting teachers and valuing morality to take root and flourish in students' hearts, shining brightly on campus.

After fierce competition, Xiaofeng Li from Shuangqiao Campus won the first prize, Yang You from the School of Computer and Internet of Things and Yanru Zhao from the School of Intelligent Manufacturing won the second prize, Tianqiao Huang from Shuangqiao Campus, Li Qin from the School of Management, and Chenyan Li from the School of Software won the third prize, Xu Zhou from the School of Architecture and Engineering, Yue Shen from the School of New Media E-commerce, Fenyuan Zhang from the School of Digital Arts, and Fu Jing from the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence won the Excellence Award.

After the game, Zihan Tang commented on the competition. Zihan Tang  pointed out that the basic knowledge testing section of the counselor quality and ability competition should focus on solid mastery and accurate application of theoretical knowledge, and be familiar with relevant policies, regulations, and educational concepts related to student work. The case study session should delve into the fundamental issues behind the case and propose the most scientific solutions based on practical work experience. The heart to heart talk session should use appropriate communication skills and methods to guide students to have a correct understanding of problems, actively face difficulties, and promote their growth and development. At the same time, high praise was given to the competition in the theme class meeting and presentation section of our school. In the theme class meeting and presentation section, the counselors fully demonstrated their solid educational and teaching skills and innovative educational concepts.

The successful holding of this counselor quality and ability competition provides a platform for our school counselors to showcase themselves, learn from each other, and make progress together. Next, our school will continue to strengthen the learning of professional knowledge and skills of counselors, enhance the construction of the counselor team, and improve the pertinence, effectiveness, and innovation of student work.
