Exploring the secrets of programming and building dreams for children's intelligent future--The Cloud Intelligence Science Popularization Education Practice Team of Chongqing University of Engineering launched the "Children's Programming" volunteer service activity in Qingyan Community

Net news (article/ picture the School of Big Data Huijun Wang )From October 19th to December 21st, under the guidance of the Banan Youth League Committee, the Yunzhi Science Popularization Education Practice Team of Chongqing University of Engineering, together with the Youth Activity Center of the district, successfully completed a two month "Make bit Children's Programming Robot" volunteer service activity at the Micro Youth Palace in Qingyan Community, Lijiatuo Street. This activity is based on the Make bit programming education robot and utilizes Python programming language and Makecode graphical software to carry out professional volunteer service activities for primary and secondary school students. Volunteers not only imparted programming knowledge, but also inspired children's love for learning and life with their enthusiasm and compassion. Over the course of two months, more than 200 primary and secondary school students actively participated, and 12 volunteers contributed over 200 hours of volunteer service, earning widespread praise from community residents.

In order to ensure the smooth progress of the activity, volunteers carried out intensive preparation work in September. Volunteers carefully prepared and designed a step-by-step programming teaching plan based on the age characteristics and cognitive level of the children. Introducing the most basic programming concepts, using vivid and interesting animations and examples to help children understand the logic behind the code, turning abstraction into imagery, and quickly immersing them in the wonderful world of programming. Accumulated grinding hours exceed 400 hours.

This "Make it Children's Programming Robot" volunteer service activity not only enriches the extracurricular life of children in the community and plants the seeds of their technological dreams, but also serves as a vivid practice for universities to fulfill their social service functions and assist grassroots science popularization education. Next, the Cloud Intelligence Science Popularization Education Practice Team of Chongqing University of Engineering will continue to uphold the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress", organize more meaningful course activities, and enable more young people to benefit from the light of science and technology education, contributing to the cultivation of innovative talents in the new era.

Community residents highly praised this activity, praising our volunteers for their enthusiasm, love, and patience in serving the children who came to class, and also receiving great praise from parents. Many parents have provided feedback that their children's logical thinking ability has significantly improved after participating in activities, and their enthusiasm for learning technological knowledge has increased. After returning home, they will actively share their programming learning experiences, and there are many more topics about technological exploration between parents and children.
