In order to actively adapt to and respond to the opportunities and challenges brought by the artificial intelligence technology revolution, and to promote the comprehensive improvement of the school's teaching, research, management, and social service capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, on March 14th, our school held a symposium on "How to cope with the opportunities and challenges of rapid development of artificial intelligence" in the fifth conference room of the administrative building of Nanquan Campus. Chairman and President Wanjun Wang presided over and delivered a speech.

The leaders of the participating secondary units discussed topics such as "Artificial Intelligence+Higher Education", AI enabled digital transformation, and digital teaching construction, providing new ideas and paths for adjusting the structure of AI+disciplines, reforming AI+teaching models and content, improving the AI literacy of teachers and students, and upgrading AI enabled management models and platforms.

Wanjun Wang emphasized at the symposium that artificial intelligence is not an "elective course" for universities, but a must answer question for education in the new era. The whole school must establish a systematic thinking of "AI+education" and build a "three in one" educational intelligent agent that covers the entire chain of talent cultivation, the full dimensions of scientific research and innovation, and the entire process of management and service. He pointed out that schools should focus on "six adjustments, one guarantee, and one highlight", adapt to changes, seize opportunities, take initiative, and take the lead.
Six adjustments. One is to adjust the structure of disciplines and majors. Timely eliminate majors that may be replaced or deeply influenced by AI, establish new majors that meet the needs of regional economic development and emerging frontiers, and upgrade and transform existing majors in a timely manner. The second is to adjust the talent cultivation plan. The goal of talent cultivation is to deepen the thinking based on two directions: professional research on AI, innovative AI, and the application of AI in the profession. The third is to adjust the teaching content and methods. Teachers pay more attention to practicality and innovation in teaching, including guiding students on how to use AI to develop learning. Guide students to actively learn, learn independently, learn flexibly, learn online, and learn in practice, using learning while applying, highlighting the cultivation of students' application, innovation, and learning abilities. The fourth is to adjust the structure of the teaching staff. The teaching staff should be transformed and trained towards the direction of "understanding AI, using AI, and being able to practice engineering", and the teacher structure should be firmly adjusted towards the direction of "practical orientation, equal emphasis on theory and practice, and AI empowerment". Fifth, adjust the evaluation of teaching quality. Comprehensively promote the reform of student academic evaluation and teacher teaching quality evaluation, while combining teacher teaching quality evaluation with the salary system. Sixth, adjust the operating mechanism. The school has established a special working group for artificial intelligence, professional construction, and integration of industry and education, breaking down the boundaries between majors and colleges, and formulating measures; Establish an Artificial Intelligence Innovation Application Research Center, specifically responsible for the iteration of artificial intelligence application scenarios and technology research and development in the school.
One guarantee. Strengthening the basic guarantee, led by the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Application Research Center, various teaching units work together, and the Information Center provides computing resources and information security support. With Heavy Industry Science and Technology as the carrier, the school and enterprise jointly build three major platforms for intelligent teaching evaluation, online learning, and internship and training, providing guarantees for AI teaching in schools and helping to form educational products.
One highlight. Emphasize the cultivation of application capabilities, deepen the integration of industry and education, increase investment in human resources and other resources, and strengthen the deep integration with closely related enterprises such as Heavy Industry Science and Technology, Shuyixin, Zhengda Energy Technology, Yingkang Technology, etc; Strengthen the construction of industrial colleges in areas such as smart energy, digital twins, and cybersecurity; Strengthen the construction of digital film and television industry education integration enterprises, deeply integrate industry, industry, and enterprise needs into the talent cultivation process, and enhance students' learning ability, application ability, and innovation ability.
The relevant school leaders attended the meeting, including the heads of the Party and Government Office, Academic Affairs Office, Science and Technology Office, Personnel Office, Student Affairs Office, Teacher Development Center, and Network Information Center, the deans of each secondary college, the vice deans in charge of teaching and internship training (assistant deans), the directors of various research institutes on campus, and the head of the Heavy Industry Department.
