Net news (article Career Center Qiuqing Ye / picture University Student Journalists) On the afternoon of April 14th, Chongqing's 2025 Western Plan to enter colleges and universities was simultaneously launched in the 7 Teaching 807 Lecture Hall and the online goose live broadcast platform. Comrade Wei He, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League (Chongqing College Student Volunteer Service West Program Project Office) and Chongqing Social Organization Service Center, served as the keynote speaker, deeply interpreting the policies, measures and missions of the Western Plan for the students of our school, attracting more than 2,100 teachers and students from the university to participate. The lecture was presided over by You Wu, deputy director of the Enrollment and Employment Office and director of the Career Guidance Center.

Since 2003, when the state implemented the Western Plan, Chongqing has sent more than 40,000 college student volunteers to Xinjiang, Tibet, Guizhou and other western regions, as well as to the city's hardship and remote counties and townships. Based on 22 years of experience in volunteer service management, Wei He systematically interpreted the national service projects such as rural education, rural construction, healthy villages, grassroots youth work, rural social governance, defending the country's borders, serving Xinjiang, and serving Tibet, as well as Chongqing's characteristic projects such as "Camellia" rural revitalization and "Xin Xiaoqing" sunshine assistance for the disabled.

In the policy interpretation session, Wei He clearly sorted out the policy guarantee and career development channels of the college students' volunteer service plan in the western region. In addition to the working and living subsidies, transportation subsidies and social insurance provided by the central and local governments, volunteers can also enjoy preferential policies such as extra points for postgraduate examinations, targeted recruitment for public examinations, renewal of fresh graduates' status, and calculation of seniority after the expiration of the service period. During the sharing and exchange, Wei He also shared many vivid cases of volunteers growing into backbones at the grassroots level, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of grassroots work experience on personal ability improvement and career development.

During the interactive session, Wei He answered the students' key questions about the selection process, service content, career planning and other key questions one by one, and guided the young students to integrate their career ideals into the needs of national social development.
"Go to the west, go to the grassroots, and go to the places where the motherland needs it most!" The Western Plan is not only an important platform for young people to take root at the grassroots level and serve the national strategy, but also a growth stage for young people to temper their will and realize the value of life. It is reported that in the past three years, our school has cultivated and sent more than 200 outstanding students to go to the west to make contributions. With the full launch of the recruitment work in 2025, it is believed that more heavy industry students will respond to the call of the Western Plan, bloom their youth in the places where the motherland needs them most, and write their own chapter of youth.
