The best life is to give yourself unlimited space to dream! "The University of Reading from the UK visited our school to discuss the future with students from Heavy Industry
"Life is not a track, but a wilderness."Recently, the Study Abroad Service Center of Chongqing University of Engineering successfully held an exchange event called "Zero Distance from World Famous Universities - Reading University and Heavy Industry Students Face to Face" at the Nanquan and Shuangqiao campuses. This cross regional academic dialogue not only unveiled the mysterious veil of world-renowned universities for students of Heavy Industry, but also illuminated the future beacon of international education from multiple perspectives. Here, the passion for knowledge and the vision of globalization intertwine, engraving unforgettable memories of growth for
every participant.

At the beginning of the event, Nan Zhang, Vice Dean of the School of Fundamentals at our university, delivered a speech on the theme of "Diversified Development, Building Dreams and Embarking on Distant Voyages". He emphasized that the internationalization of higher education is the core strategic direction of the university. Chongqing Institute of Engineering actively responded to the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and helped heavy engineering students connect with the world's top education resources and enhance international competitiveness by taking the cooperation with Reading University as a bridge.

Teacher Siyu Feng from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office stated that this exchange is a milestone in deepening cooperation between the two schools. Both parties have formed strategic complementarity in fields such as intelligent manufacturing, data science, and business. In the future, through the "4+X" deep cooperation framework, a comprehensive training system for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees will be established, connecting the dual channels of "high-quality student source transportation+international curriculum co construction", and jointly cultivating compound talents with both industry insight and global vision.

With thunderous applause from classmates, Mr. Hong Kun, the representative of Henley Business School at the University of Reading in the UK, took the stage. He initiated an ice breaking interaction through a series of fun Q&A. Students in the audience competed to answer, and the lucky winner who answered correctly received a cultural and creative gift from the University of Reading. The atmosphere at the scene was lively.

Following that, Mr. Hong Kun led the students on a "cloud tour" of the Reading campus with vivid storytelling. From academic accumulation with a hundred years of history to the hardcore strength ranked in the top 200 globally by QS; From being the top real estate and meteorology major in the UK, to having four levels of business accreditation from no more than 1% of universities worldwide; Moving on to deep collaborations with renowned companies such as HSBC and BBC, Hong Kun has outlined a blueprint for an international top tier university through detailed data and case studies.
At the end of the sharing, Hong Kun encouraged students: "Choosing Reading is not only about choosing a university, but also about choosing a platform to grow alongside the world
During the free questioning session, students enthusiastically raised their hands, covering hot topics such as major selection, language barriers, and internship opportunities. Teacher Hong Kun provides support for students through school scholarship policies, internships, and employment, and answers questions from heavy industry students. Teacher Hong Kun's answer was supported by cases and data, and the applause on site was continuous. The blueprint of international education became increasingly clear during the Q&A.

It is understood that this exchange is not only a transmission of information, but also the sowing of seeds of internationalization. Mr. Liu, the head of the Study Abroad Service Center at Chongqing University of Engineering, stated that the "Bachelor's and Master's Direct Elite Talent Training Program" will continue to be optimized, actively connecting with high-quality overseas universities, opening up a high-quality green channel for students' further education, and helping them embark on a new journey of internationalization. In the future, they will embrace multiculturalism with a more open perspective and step onto the international stage with greater confidence.
