[Alumni Lecture Series] Alumni Xia Kanghui Shares Tips for Successfully Passing the Postgraduate Entrance Exam in One Go

Net news (article/Photos by Employment Guidance Center, Qiuying Ye): On the evening of October 15th, the "Alumni Lecture Series," hosted by the school's Employment Guidance Center, was held online. Kanghui Xia, an outstanding 2023 graduate of the Network and New Media program and now a graduate student in Journalism and Communication at Southwest University, was invited to give a talk on "Postgraduate Exam Experience and Personal Growth," with nearly 6,000 students participating online.

Kanghui Xia was admitted to Southwest University with a total score of 393. She shared her postgraduate exam experience under the theme "Set Your Goals, Focus Your Actions." Regarding school selection, she suggested making good use of the Graduate Admissions website, school official websites, and new media platforms to gather information, and to rationally choose schools based on personal conditions rather than blindly following trends.

For the preliminary exam, she divided the preparation into three stages: early, middle, and late. She emphasized building a solid foundation in the early stage, strengthening key areas in the middle stage, and addressing weaknesses in the final stage. She also advised planning daily study tasks reasonably and balancing the review of major courses with general courses. Regarding the re-exam, she encouraged students not to worry about having a simple undergraduate background but to prepare thoroughly for professional knowledge, confidently present themselves, and familiarize themselves in advance with changes in the graduate phase regarding study duration, advisors, and learning methods. Finally,  Kanghui Xia urged younger students to face exam stress, learn to manage emotions, and persist to the end.

This lecture is part of the "Alumni Lecture Series," aiming to use alumni's real experiences to build a bridge between students' academic and career development. The Employment Guidance Center stated that it will continue to hold such events to help students broaden their horizons, enhance competitiveness, and plan their futures scientifically.
