Teachers of Our University Achieve Remarkable Results in the 10th National Basic Teaching Skills Competition for College English Teachers

Net News (Article/Photos by Basic Courses College Liu Huang) On October 26th, the national finals of the 10th National Basic Teaching Skills Competition for College English Teachers came to an end in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Representing our university, Liu Huang, Jia Jian,Dan Zhou , and Fuju Ding from the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Section of the Basic Courses College competed alongside outstanding teachers from 220 universities across the country. With solid teaching foundations and excellent on-site performances, they won a total of 3 national awards and 3 provincial-level awards, achieving dual breakthroughs in teaching competitions and academic research.

In the teaching competition section,Liu Huang stood out through provincial-level selection and represented the university in the national finals of the lesson presentation group, winning the National Second Prize and Provincial Special Prize. Teacher Jia Jian performed steadily and won the Provincial Second Prize in the lesson presentation group. Teacher Dan Zhou demonstrated a solid teaching foundation in the recorded class group and won the Provincial Third Prize. In the academic paper evaluation, Teacher Fujv Ding’s research achievements were recognized by experts, winning one National Second Prize and one National Third Prize, making him an outstanding representative of our university in the academic field of this competition.

On October 24th, Liu Huang competed fiercely offline with 31 other provincial special prize winners in the lesson presentation group at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. During the competition, Liu Huang gave an English-only lesson presentation themed 《Pioneers of Flight》. With clear teaching ideas, innovative teaching design, and fluent expert defense, she finally stood out and won the excellent result of the National Second Prize, demonstrating the good international teaching ability of teachers in our university.

It is reported that the National Basic Teaching Skills Competition for College English Teachers is a national special event co-sponsored by the College English Teaching Research Association and the National Collaborative Group for Foreign Language Teaching and Research in Normal Universities. It enjoys high authority and wide influence. The competition includes three major items: micro-lecture, lesson presentation, and recorded class, and has been successfully held for nine consecutive sessions so far. As an important event in English teaching in higher education, it aims to promote the construction of a high-quality higher education system, facilitate the wide sharing of high-quality curriculum resources, and build an important platform for college English teachers nationwide to exchange teaching experience and improve teaching ability.

The excellent results achieved by our university’s teachers in this competition are a reflection of the university’s emphasis on teacher team training and the improvement of teaching quality. In the future, the university will continue to build platforms for teachers’ professional development, encourage teachers to actively participate in high-level teaching competitions and exchange activities, continuously improve teaching standards, and lay a solid foundation for cultivating more high-quality talents.
