University News (Text/Photo: School of Youth League Committee, Mengying Liu ) From October 31th to November 4th, the final review of the 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, All-China Students' Federation, and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, was held at Nanjing University. The participating team from the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence of our university won the National Second Prize in the "AI+" Specialized Competition, setting a new historical best record for the university in this event.

It is reported that the participating team from our university was guided by teachers Min Li, Qin Li, and Ping Wu, and consisted of students Tianyu Huang, Longxuan Jia, Binzhen Yu, Yaoran Yin, and  Yinghong Qin. This edition of the "Challenge Cup" competition, under the theme "Youth Shouldering Responsibilities for Chinese Modernization," attracted over 400,000 entries from more than 2,700 universities across the country, involving more than 3 million students. After a three-tier selection process comprising university-level, provincial-level, and national-level competitions, a total of 640 entries advanced to the final review of the main competition, while 643 entries made it to the final review of the "AI+" special competition.

This achievement serves as a vivid demonstration of the university's commitment to deep industry-education integration and the educational philosophy of "using competitions to enhance teaching and learning." It also represents another significant outcome of implementing the "1234 Competition Strategy." Moving forward, our university will actively promote the in-depth development of the "Challenge Cup" competition, continuing to leverage sci-tech innovation contests as a means to refine projects, cultivate distinctive strengths, and consistently enhance students' innovative spirit and practical capabilities, thereby guiding their growth and development.
