Our School Launches 2025 Fire Safety Publicity Month Series: Teachers and Students Visit Fire and Rescue Station

Net News (Text/Security Department Haoran Liu ; Photos/University Student Journalist Corps) To enhance teachers and students' awareness of fire safety, improve emergency response capabilities, and build a harmonious and safe campus, the School Security Department organized representatives of teachers, students and volunteer firefighters to visit Jieshi Fire and Rescue Station for on-site training on December 2nd. The activity aimed to conduct in-depth fire safety knowledge education.

At the start of the event, rescuers from the fire and rescue station guided all participants to visit various fire-fighting vehicles and equipment in an orderly manner, providing professional explanations on the vehicles' performance parameters and application scenarios. Firefighters focused on introducing the technical characteristics and practical applications of professional equipment such as aerial ladder fire trucks and special fire trucks. All participating teachers and students listened attentively, creating a strong learning atmosphere on site.

In the equipment exhibition area, firefighters displayed various rescue equipment one by one, explaining their operating procedures and practical applications in detail. Among them, the display of fire rescue suits attracted particular attention. After elaborating on the core protective properties of the suits—such as fire resistance, heat insulation and wear resistance—and precautions for wearing, firefighters invited participating students to try them on. Under the guidance of firefighters, one student completed the wearing steps step by step, personally feeling the thickness and sturdiness of the rescue suit. After putting on the entire set of equipment, he deeply understood the physical load and protective needs of firefighters when performing tasks in harsh environments such as high temperatures and heavy smoke. Subsequently, the on-site display of professional equipment including air breathing apparatus, rescue tool sets and life detectors further allowed participating teachers and students to intuitively understand the performance characteristics of rescue equipment. Another participating student said after experiencing the air breathing apparatus: "This equipment effectively ensures firefighters' breathing safety in actual combat, and its use plays an important role in improving rescue efficiency."

In the fire safety skills training session, firefighters explained knowledge on fire prevention, alarm reporting and initial fire fighting in a simple and understandable way, combined with practical cases. They focused on demonstrating the correct use of fire hydrants and invited representatives of teachers and students to practice.

During the event, teachers and students actively interacted with firefighters and enthusiastically raised questions about fire safety issues of concern. Combining their own experiences, firefighters shared touching stories and valuable experiences from rescues, enabling everyone to gain a deeper understanding of firefighters' work.

A student sighed: "I used to think firefighters only put out fires, but today I learned that they also participate in various emergency rescues and face so many dangers. They are true heroes worthy of our respect and learning."

In the future, the school will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the fire and rescue station, regularly organize fire safety training and drills, continuously improve the campus fire safety management system, and create a safer and more stable learning and living environment for teachers and students.
