The University Holds the First Plenary Meeting of the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors

Net news (Text/Photos by Beibei Luo, Academic Affairs Office) To further strengthen the construction of computer majors, optimize the curriculum system and teaching resources, and improve the quality of applied talent cultivation, Chongqing Institute of Technology has set up the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors, and held its first plenary meeting on January 6. Mingshu Tan, Vice President of the university, attended the meeting, which was presided over by Qian Yang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office.

At the beginning of the meeting, all members of the committee jointly studied the university's official document on the establishment of the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors, clarifying the committee's core responsibilities in professional construction and planning, review of talent training programs, curriculum system and resource development, among other aspects. The committee will serve as a guiding and deliberative body for the teaching work of computer majors in the university, providing strong support for the scientific development of relevant majors and talent cultivation.

In the session of curriculum construction discussion, the participating committee members deliberated and adopted the plan for credit allocation, class hours arrangement and content integration for courses such as College Mathematics and College Physics.

Subsequently, the participants discussed the launching plans for three core professional courses: Principles of Computer Composition, Operating Systems and Computer Networks. Committee members put forward constructive suggestions from the perspectives of curriculum connection, content updating, strengthening of practical teaching and overall planning of teaching resources, aiming to build a more systematic and cutting-edge cluster of professional core courses.

At the end of the meeting, Mingshu Tan emphasized in his concluding speech that the construction and development of computer-related majors must comply with national professional quality standards. For majors participating in the pilot project of engineering education accreditation, strict alignment with relevant criteria should be adhered to, so as to promote the continuous improvement of teaching quality through high standards.

He required the committee to give full play to its guiding and coordinating roles, strengthen inter-college and cross-field teaching collaboration, focus on fostering students' innovative and practical abilities, steadily advance education and teaching reforms, and make every effort to build a distinctive talent training system for computer majors that meets the needs of the industry.

The convening of this meeting marks that the teaching guidance and reform work of the university's computer-related majors has entered a new stage. The committee will continue to carry out its work and contribute to promoting the high-quality development of relevant majors and cultivating outstanding talents.
