News from our website (Text/Photos by Zhang Jing, Teacher Development Center)To fully leverage the exemplary role of outstanding teachers and further improve the quality of classroom instruction, the Teacher Development Center organized school-level demonstration classes with the theme “AI + Classroom” from October 11th. A total of 12 teachers with exceptional teaching skills were selected from various colleges to teach these demonstration classes. More than 350 teachers across the school attended the observations.
Pay high attention and advance efforts collaboratively. On October 11th, the school held a meeting to launch the university-level demonstration courses. Deans in charge of teaching from various colleges and members of the university’s teaching supervision team attended the meeting. Ming Yanyan, director of the Teacher Development Center, clarified the direction of the demonstration courses, emphasizing the need to integrate AI deeply into teaching design, classroom interaction, and evaluation processes. Ta Huaihong, head of the university’s supervision team, provided a detailed explanation of the evaluation criteria for the demonstration courses, using excellent classroom examples as references for analysis. After the meeting, each college focused on refining their demonstration courses. The supervision team offered “one-on-one” guidance based on individual disciplines, with an emphasis on optimizing teaching plans through the integration of AI in the classroom. By working together at both the university and college levels, they aim to create high-quality examples of smart classrooms.

Diverse innovations, dancing with AI. Teachers in the demonstration classes focus on the essence of their subjects, carefully optimizing teaching designs and delving deep into the curriculum’s underlying meaning. By integrating various strategies such as blended learning and task-driven instruction, they enable the widespread use of AI tools throughout the teaching process: before class, AI-assisted tools help create knowledge maps that provide students with a structured framework for understanding concepts; during class, AI-powered digital avatars and immersive scenarios make abstract ideas more tangible and easy to grasp; after class, AI-assisted tools and online platforms support personalized, continuous learning for students. Additionally, AI offers a range of supportive functions in teaching: it automatically analyzes exercises, assists with programming and debugging, and provides intelligent evaluations of students’ performance. Students can also use AI tools to engage in inquiry-based learning, allowing them to explore topics more deeply.

Learning from each other, growing together. Observing teachers went deep into the classrooms to fully experience diverse teaching styles, paying close attention to the highlights and innovative practices resulting from AI tools’ real-time feedback. During the post-class discussion, teachers enthusiastically shared their insights. They generally agreed that these demonstration lessons provided new ideas and methods for classroom teaching reform, and that AI tools could be utilized to further optimize teaching designs and enhance teaching effectiveness.
This school-level demonstration lesson, themed “AI + Classroom,” not only showcases outstanding practices of integrating AI with teaching but also provides a platform for teachers to explore innovations in classroom teaching in the AI era. The school will continue to provide specialized training on using AI to enhance teaching, guiding teachers to further deepen their research, update their educational philosophies, and innovate teaching methods, thereby providing sustained momentum for improving the quality of talent cultivation.
