University leader Jiandong Wang was elected as the part-time vice chairman of the Municipal Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union.

News from our staff (Text/Photo by Li Zhou, University Trade Union).On April 9, the Sixth Plenary (Expanded) Session of the Second Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union was held. Jiandong Wang, a member of the University Party Committee, Vice President, and Chairman of the University Trade Union, was invited to attend as a candidate committee member. Wenming Zhao, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Chongqing Federation of Trade Unions, as well as Chairman of the Municipal Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union, attended and delivered a speech. More than 100 responsible persons from trade unions in the city's education, science, culture, health and sports systems, as well as from some large enterprises and institutions, participated in the meeting.

Through the democratic procedures of the session, Jiandong Wang was elected as a member of the Second Committee of the Municipal Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union and was subsequently elected as its part-time vice chairman. This election not only reflects the full recognition of his personal competency by the higher-level trade union, but also serves as a strong affirmation of the overall effectiveness of our university's trade union work.

In recent years, under the strong leadership of the University Party Committee, the University Trade Union has continuously deepened its own reform and development, actively safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of faculty and staff, and meticulously built the "Staff Home" service brand, achieving remarkable results in democratic governance, hardship assistance, cultural and sports activities, as well as fostering excellence at work. It has received seven collective honors, including the Chongqing May Day Labor Award, the Chongqing "Worker Pioneer" title, and third prizes in the first and second collective negotiation competitions of the Chongqing Municipal Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union. In addition, individual members have been honored as Chongqing Model Workers and recipients of the May Day Labor Medal.

In future work, the University Trade Union will continue to firmly establish a staff-centered work orientation, earnestly and wholeheartedly addressing the urgent, difficult, worrisome, and long-awaited issues of the staff, effectively improving their quality of life, and truly becoming the trusted confidants and "family supporters" that staff can rely on.
