News from our correspondent (Text/Photos by Shuangyi Yang, Youth League Committee of Shuangqiao Campus)To deeply promote China’s excellent traditional culture and foster innovative expression and contemporary dissemination of Dazu Rock Carvings culture, the final round of the Third Young Stone Carving Tour Guide Talent Competition, themed “Telling the Stone Carving Stories Well, Inheriting the Spirit of Stone Souls,” was held on April 29 at the academic lecture hall of Xiangguo Primary School in Dazu District. Yuling Ran, a member of our university’s Youth Pioneer Explanation Group, delivered an outstanding performance and won the first prize (top award) in the competition.

In this competition, outstanding contestants from across the district gathered to compete, delivering multi-dimensional explanations and presentations centered on the Dazu Rock Carvings, comprehensively assessing the participants' cultural understanding, linguistic expressiveness, and overall competence. The atmosphere at the competition was intense and dynamic, with brilliant performances one after another. During the competition, under the guidance of her instructor, Shuangyi Yang, Yuling Ran delivered her presentation titled "The Great Dazu: The Millennia-old Echo of the Thousand-Armed Guanyin." Focusing on the Thousand-Armed Guanyin statue of the Dazu Rock Carvings, she unfolded her explanation through historical origins, artistic value, and contemporary significance. With an expressive voice and vivid, nuanced delivery, she eloquently conveyed the cultural warmth and spiritual essence of the millennia-old rock carvings. Her entire presentation was logically rigorous, rhythmically well-paced, and rich in both intellectual depth and artistic appeal, earning high praise from the judges and warm applause from the live audience. After comprehensive evaluation, Yuling Ran stood out with her outstanding performance and won the first prize, top award in the competition.

This achievement is a vivid manifestation of the university's commitment to cultural and practice-based education. By using their voices as a bridge and their presentations as a vehicle for conveying values, young students have breathed new, vibrant life into the millennia-old art of rock carvings in this new era. Moving forward, our university will continue to deepen the pathways of practice-based education, leveraging platforms such as the explanation team to continuously enhance young students' capabilities in cultural dissemination and social service. We will guide more young people to strengthen their cultural confidence through storytelling and to embrace the mission of the times through cultural communication, ensuring that the Chinese cultural heritage endures and flourishes in the new era.
